ISC "POPPI" - Practice Only Program Plus Indoor
The Practice Only Program Plus Indoor, known as "POPPI," is a part of our Intermediate Program Level in the ISC.
"POPPI" is one step above "POP" in terms of time commitment.
The "POPPI" program is also one of the three year round programs that we offer in the ISC. The three year round programs that we offer are listed below.
Year Round Programs Offered by the ISC:
1) "POP"-Practice Only Program for any U9-U18
2) "POPPI" -Practice Only Program Plus Indoor-Only for U9-U14 players
3) Advanced Year Round Program -for any U8-U18 player
Why do "POPPI"?
The "POPPI" program is designed for young soccer players who want to make huge progress in their soccer skill development and for players who want to learn how to play the game better. This program was established to meet the needs of the young soccer players who desire to be a part of a program that provides great instruction from the coaches and guarantees a professionally run practice environment. As with ALL of the ISC programs, we offer only expert level coaching to all programs. Players in the "POPPI" program will train with our best coaches and receive the best instruction possible. They will also practice with all of the Advanced Year Round players who are very committed soccer players.
What makes the "POPPI" program different from the "POP" level is that the "POPPI" players will play in indoor games with the Advanced Year Round Players during the winter months from November through early March.
We recognize that some kids want to play in games with the advanced year round players that they are practicing with but they cannot commit to the fall and spring outdoor soccer seasons with the ISC. Therefore, for those kids who have really busy fall and spring seasons with other sports or activities, the "POPPI" Program might be a good fit because players in "POPPI" have access to practices all year long, but they only need to commit to practice attendance and game attendance during the winter months when they are playing indoor games with the advanced year round players.
How is POPPI different than the Advanced Year Round Program?
The main difference between "POPPI" and the Advanced Year Round Program is that players in the Advanced Year Round Program have game attendance requirements in three seasons, not just the winter season.
How To Register for "POPPI"
All players interested in the Practice Only Program Plus Indoor, or "POPPI" program, will need to register for our Clinics and Tryouts in order to participate in the program for next year. By next year, we mean the 2013-2014 season, which starts in August 2013 and runs through July of 2014.
The clinics and tryouts for the 2013-2014 "POPPI" program start on Monday, June 3, 2013 and run through June 20, 2013. The practices for the 2013-2014 "POPPI" program would start then either in early August for U13 and older players or in mid August for U9-U12 players.
Rules for POPPI:
As was mentioned above, unlike the "POP" program, there are certain training rules that "POPPI" players must commit to in order to participate in this program. "POPPI" players will play indoor games with our Advanced Year Round players during the winter season from November through the first two weekends in March. All of the players on the Advanced Year Round teams have practice requirements throughout the year in order to participate. Therefore, it only makes sense then that during the time that the "POPPI" players join the Advanced Year Round players for game competition that they would be required to attend some minimal level of practice. The "POPPI" players are required to practice once per week throughout the indoor season from November through the first two weeks of March. Obviously we have 2 weeks off in late December for winter break.
We offer lots of practice opportunities for the players to meet this requirement and players in the "POPPI" program are not limited to attending their age group's team practice to fulfill this requirement. "POPPI" players can also use a "super skills" session to meet this requirement if the team training session time does not work for them due to scheduling conflicts.
In addition to the practice requirement, all "POPPI" players must play BOTH indoor sessions. The league that we play in has two indoor sessions per winter. The first session runs from November through December and the second session runs from January through early March. Players in the "POPPI" Program are required to play in both of these sessions.
Where are the Indoor games for POPPI and who will my child play with?
In the ISC we play our indoor games in Hiawatha, north of Cedar Rapids, in a facility called the Sportszone. The games are held on Saturdays and Sundays only.
The kids in the "POPPI" Program play games with the players in the Advanced Year Round Program. Typically for indoor, we mix the U9-U10 players together and form teams, we mix the U11-U12 players together and make teams, and also the U13-U14 players together to make teams.
Cost for POPPI:
The club fees for the "POPPI" program are the same as the club fees for the Advanced Year Round Program. The team fees for "POPPI" would only include fees for league entry for Sportszone. This team fee varies because it is based on the number of players entered in the league from a team.
