JR BAGIL (U13-U14 Boys and Girls) - Session I

The ISC is excited to offer our 3rd year of the JR. BAGIL INDOOR LEAGUE FOR OUR ISC U13-U14 Boys and Girls

Updated October 21, 2016

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!  The league is full for session I.  Updated October 29, 2016

The U13-U14 Boys and Girls Indoor League will be known as:  The ISC JR. BAGIL

What is the ISC JR. BAGIL Indoor League?

The ISC JR. BAGIL is in 3rd year.  THE JR. BAGIL combines U13-U14 boys and girls on mixed teams for 2 sessions of indoor soccer each winter.  All games will be played at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center, known as the HTRC.   The facility address is 2820 Prairie Meadow Drive, Iowa City, Iowa.  PLEASE NOTE that all of the games will be played in the old turf area, named the "HAWKEYE TURF."  Players are NOT allowed to wear cleats on this surface.

How does the league work?  Do I need a team to sign up or can I enter on my own?

The league is set up so that all participants sign up as individuals.  Participants are placed on a team with other players and they will remain on the same team for the entire session.  The ISC Coaching Staff will form teams and we will do our best to divide the players evenly so we have balanced teams.

All participants are guaranteed 9 indoor games with the team that they are assigned to play with for the session.  In addition, the ISC coaching staff will ensure that all players on each team will play as close to half of each game as possible.

In addition, the top 4 teams in the division will play a match-up game for the First place title and for 3rd place position in the league.

Who is eligible for the league?

Participants must be a registered ISC "POPPI" player or Advanced Year Round Player to compete in the league.   Players that are ISC "POP" players are not eligible to play in the league at the U13-U14 leavel although we do allow "POP" players to do this at the younger ages.

Format of League-5v5 Indoor Soccer

5v5 Indoor Soccer-No Walls- (4v4 + Keepers with a futsal ball) Games are played on an excellent turf field at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center on the old turf area named the HAWKEYE TURF.   Players are NOT allowed to wear cleats on this surface.   Since there are no walls, when the ball is played out of bounds, we will play kick-ins for restarts.

We will use a futsal ball, but we will not use the official futsal rules for play.

The field space will be 25 yards wide by 40 yards long.   With 4 field players on each team and a goalie for each team, the space allows for good soccer to be played by the teams.

Who coaches the teams?

The ISC staff will be present for each team to coach the games.

When is the League Offered?

We hold two sessions each year.

Session I runs from November  2016 through the first weekend of January 2017.

Session II runs from January 2017 through March 2017.

What Days of the week will games be played?

(Please note that this doesn't mean that your team will play on all of the dates listed below, but they will have games on the majority of the dates listed below.)

Saturday, December 17, 2016 (Time range from 8:40 PM-10:15 PM )

Saturday, January 7, 2017 (Time range from 7 PM-10:15 PM)

If I sign up for the league, do I need to make all 9 games?

Most likely you will need to be available for most games because I intend to put no more than 8 on a team to maximize playing time.  It is not required that you play in all games, but with smaller rosters, if you miss a lot of games, your team will be short players.

Cost for the League: $90 per player

$90 per player:  for 9 League Games and a league jersey.

Maximum Number of PLayers that we can accept for sesssion I:  80 Players

The maximum roster per team is 8 players.  We will NOT place more than 8 players on each team.  We will likely form 10 teams.  This means that we can only accept 80 players for each session.

Our coaches will guarantee that you play half of each match if everyone on your team is in attendance for all games.

Duration of each match

45 minutes with a running clock-no half time.

Competitive Format:

We anticipate that we will have 10 teams for Session I.

Each team will play the other 9 teams in the league.  We guarantee that ALL teams will play 9, 45 minute long games each session.

After the completion of the regular league schedule, we will take the top four teams based on league results and have the #1 seed play the #2 seed for the first place of the league and the #3 and #4 teams play each other for 3rd place in the league.

This means that while all teams are guaranteed 9 games,  the top 4 teams after league play is finished will play a 10th game.

Each player on the top 2 teams will receive a winner's long sleeve shirt.

Minimum Players Required for Each game
Your team must have at least five players at each game.  If you do not start the game with five players that are listed on your roster, your team will forfeit the game. If you start the game with five players, and then during the game a player is injured, you can finish the game with less than five players.

If your team forfeits a game, the game is recorded as an 0-8 Loss for the forfeiting team.

Once registration reaches 80 players, registration will close.
