POP and POPPI
ISC Practice Only Programs
  • POP – Practice Only Program – 8U-19U
  • POPPI – Practice Only Program Plus Indoor – 8U-19U
Why Participate in the ISC POP Program?

The POP program is a year-round training program designed for soccer players who want to make progress in their soccer skill development.   As with all of the ISC programs, we only assign expert, USSF trained coaches to our training sessions. Players in the POP program will train with our most qualified coaches and receive the best instruction possible. Training starts in early August and finishes in June and POP players practice with the “Advanced Year-Round” players.

Summary Information of the ISC “POP” Program.
  • We do not accept players in the ISC “POP” program if they are registered with another USYS, US Club, or USSA soccer club or organization that competes at the competitive level.  However, kids that are enrolled in other recreational, non-travel, soccer progrrams, would be eligible to join the ISC “POP” program.   For example, kids that play on an Iowa City Kicker’s recreational team are permitted to play in the ISC “POP” program.
  • ISC POP players are not given permission to guest play with other USYS, US Club, or USSA soccer clubs or organizations that competes on a competitive level.
  • Practice attendance is not required but is encouraged.
  • POP players 8U through 12U are allowed to play in the ISC indoor recreational leagues but are not required to play.
  • POP players in the 13U through 19U age groups do not have an indoor league option.
  • POP Players do not play in the outdoor league games with the advanced year round competitive players. The purpose of the program is to give kids and families an excellent instructional soccer program without the burden of travel and game attendance.
  • POP Players are required to attend ISC clinics/tryouts held in June.  If there are roster positions open after clinics/tryouts, there may be opportunities to join as a POP player in the middle of if there are roster openings.
  • The club fees are pro-rated if you join after the start of the year.  (As a reminder there will not always be a POP roster position available in all age groups if you attempt to join mid year, but please check with our administrative staff for openings.
  • No team fees.
  • No uniform required for ISC POP players.

For some families, it is a better fit for them to “ease into” our programs by choosing to take advantage of the coaching and skill development offered at practices, before formally committing to a team and to traveling with the team for games and tournaments.  In addition, some older high school age kids may join the “POP” prorgram to help prepare for high school soccer.
